Our Process

Plant-based & Hand-Crafted Postpartum Care

Everything starts with self. Ebi was created to provide new mothers with  safe, effective and straightforward self-care during a period of life when it is most critical. Historically, communities would encircle new mothers in care and rituals to welcome her into motherhood and ease her transition into her new role. Modern life has presented challenges to this, but it is our hope that giving yourself permission to care for yourself during postpartum will encourage you to ask others to show up for you when needed. Ebi is there for what we hope is the beginning of a lifelong practice of balancing giving and receiving care.

We partner with local organic farms in the Northeast that employ sustainable harvesting practices and value pouring into their local communities. Each step of our production is done by hand in our studio in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. Ebi only uses organically grown plants as they are significantly higher in secondary metabolites, the chemical compounds that determine the herbal actions of a plant.

Ebi’s wellness products work in sync to nourish, heal, and soothe. These products are rooted in the postpartum traditions found the world over. Herbal baths in Haiti. Ayurvedic postpartum tea. Belly binding in Malaysia. It is more likely than not, one of your ancestors practiced one or all of these methods after giving birth. Ebi was created as a small act of reverence for the human maternal line, to acknowledge that our ability to care for and nurture one another is the source of our collective strength.
